Saint Mesa is a Chilean-American project that has gained recognition for creating a cinematic, experimental, and dark sound. It blends alternative, electronic, and even orchestral elements to produce epic, modern songs full of energy–pieces that, personally, have deeply moved me.
“Lion” is a clear example of what the project has been developing. The song feels grand and personal, but more importantly, innovative. It incorporates elements of modern pop while avoiding a generic sound, intriguingly blending folk textures with chant-like, organic touches. The release is accompanied by a self-directed music video set to premiere on May 8, filmed across Germany in historic castles and natural landscapes. Featuring swordsmen from a HEMA club and handmade costumes and props, the project stands as Saint Mesa’s most ambitious visual work to date, expanding even further on the world behind “Lion.”
